Identifying the Challenge
My client reached out because she was beginning to dread using her laundry room. She knew the space could function more smoothly but wasn’t sure how to approach reorganizing it. Our goal for the session was simple: create a space that felt peaceful and easy to use. Fortunately, her laundry room had plenty of storage — it just needed a clear system.
Starting With an Easy, High-Impact Spot

We began with an easy, high-impact spot to build momentum: the top of her dryer. It had become a catch-all surface, so we designated it as her dedicated laundry supply area and refreshed it using a piece of fabric we found during the session. This quick improvement set a clear direction for the rest of the project and helped establish how the space could function moving forward.
She also needed space for overflow kitchen items she uses less often, so we designated a standalone cabinet and countertop to keep those items accessible without adding clutter.
Maximizing the Storage Cabinets

Once we had that first victory in place, we moved to the biggest opportunity: her storage cabinets. We emptied everything out one cabinet at a time, sorted items into categories, and reassigned where they were stored. This opened up the entire countertop, giving her a clean surface she can now use freely for folding, sorting, or daily tasks.
Smart Storage With What She Already Had

A lot of progress came from making better use of her existing storage pieces. By combining items and using baskets she already owned, we grouped categories like party supplies (plasticware, paper plates, etc.) and condensed duplicates. This created more room inside the cabinets and made everything easier to find.
A Purposeful and Peaceful Result

By the end of the session, the space felt intentional and much more functional. Everything has a clear home, and the systems are easy for her to maintain. The improved flow — paired with all of that great storage — means the room now supports her routine rather than adding stress.
Ready for Your Own Refresh?
My favorite part of this project was helping the client reconnect with a space she uses regularly. If your laundry room feels overwhelming or disorganized, I’d love to help you find a calmer, more functional setup.
