I absolutely love TickTick (and no, this isn’t a sponsored post — I just really love it!).
For context, my husband and I first tried using a shared Notion page to manage our household to-do lists and home projects. We still use Notion for other things (and I’ll share more about that in a future post!), but when it came to everyday task management, it wasn’t quite the right fit for us.
My husband needs something that’s a little more “in his face.” If he doesn’t see a reminder regularly — like a sticky note on the fridge — it’s easy for it to slip his mind. TickTick solved that problem beautifully, since it lets you set up widgets right on your phone (and tablet, too!) so your tasks are always visible.
But I’m getting ahead of myself. After realizing our Notion system wasn’t cutting it for daily tasks, I finally said, “We need something we’ll both actually use — so one of us doesn’t get stuck doing everything.”
That’s when we found TickTick, and it’s been a game changer ever since.
Why TickTick Works for Us
TickTick is simple, free (up to a generous number of tasks), and easy to customize. We each have our own personal lists and shared ones for the house.
For example:
- I have lists for Tranquil Tidiness, my day job, and personal tasks.
- Together, we share Household and Kids lists.
If one of us thinks of something — like “schedule parent-teacher conferences” or “change the upstairs landing lightbulb” — we drop it into the shared list. That way, either of us can take care of it when we have time.
Because let’s be honest: if I don’t either write it down or do it right away, the day gets away from me and I forget. TickTick helps me capture those thoughts before they disappear, especially with its easy Inbox list.
The Features That Keep Us Organized
Each task (and subtask) can have:
- Due dates
- Notes
- Priority levels or categories
- And more!
When I open my “Today” view, I can see everything in one place — from replying to a client email to submitting my son’s Scholastic order.
And if I don’t finish something? I just change the due date with a tap. No messy planner cross-outs, no guilt — just a realistic reset for the next day.
Why I Recommend It
I’m a very task-oriented person who loves checking things off and seeing a clean “Today” view each evening. TickTick makes that easy and satisfying.
If you want help setting up your own system — whether it’s for home, family, or business — I can help you tailor TickTick to fit your life.
